Bring out the celebratory champagne, Michelle Wie won her first event as a professional in the Sony Open Pro-Junior Skills Challenge this afternoon at Waialae, site of the 2007 Sony Open.
Short-game accuracy is one of the the most important skills
Paired with Punahou classmate Alex Ching, team-Michelle defeated fellow islander Dean Wilson on the first playoff event, closest-to-the-pin from 100 yards. Hopefully this is a sign of good things to come.
According to a report by the Golf Channel, Michelle is suffering from a wrist injury stemming from the Samsung World Championship back in October.
