Nikon 55-200mm 4-5.6ED DX

I purchased Nikon’s 55-200mm 4-5.6ED DX telephoto lens at CompUSA’s Close out Sale last week. I was forewarned this lens isn’t anything special but for the price ($125 as of last week and still dropping as inventory remains) I couldn’t resist on getting a longer lens for the shore-break shots.
A few weeks ago I started to make the move from still-life photography to live subjects, and as a Hawaii resident what better outdoor sporting activity to capture on “film” than surfing and the beach-life. I found a nice shore-break a few miles up the road, where I’ve been honing my photography skills. Unfortunately to compose the shot I’m standing waist deep in the saltwater whitewash, an accident waiting to happen.
With this new telephoto lens I’m eagerly looking forward to my next opportunity to shoot at this break, and the ability to compose tighter shots than these taken with my Nikon 18-55mm 3.5-5.6 lens.
Sunny Skies in the Forecast
Before the Rains
Sandy Beach, Honolulu, Hawaii
As the 2007 income tax filing season gets into full-swing my time behind the lens are now limited to Sundays. I got an early start at Sandy Beach this Sunday but the excitement was soon gone as the skies opened up and the rains began to fall.
Hopefully this week’s projected sunny weather holds up through the weekend.
